ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
For admission to the Engineering programs, applicants must have a minimum admission index of 980 points and have obtained a minimum high school grade point index of 2.50.
Students who do not initially fulfill the minimum admission requirements may be admitted to the program if, upon completion of their first year of study (24 credits), they obtain a minimum general grade point average of 2.50 and a minimum grade of C in the MATH 1500 – Pre-calculus course or its equivalent.
Transfer students, either from within the University system or from other accredited institution and students wishing to change their major may be considered for admission to one of the Engineering programs if they have passed the Pre-calculus (MATH 1500) course or equivalent with a minimum grade of C and are recommended by the Department Chair.
Engineering students who obtained a lower score of 520 points in the Academic Achievement Test in Mathematics (AMAT) of the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) test must take the Fundamentals of Algebra (GEMA 1200) course before Pre-calculus (MATH 1500). In these cases, GEMA 1200 will be considered a free elective.
Students who obtained a score lower than 441 points in the Academic Achievement Test in English (AENG) of the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB) test must take Basic English courses (GEEN 1101, 1102, and 1103). Students with a score greater than 441 but less or equal to 580 will take Intermediate English Courses (GEEN 1201, 1202, and 1203). Students with a score greater than 581 or greater, take Advanced English courses (GEEN 2311, 2312, and 2313).
